In the dead of night in ’20, we were prolly the dumbest bunch in Minnesota, traipsin’ through that godforsaken wilderness in Northern Minnesota. We was tryin’ to find our way back to camp after gettin’ lost on a hunt. The snowstorm was somethin’ else, howlin’ like a pack of wolves on a full moon. We stumbled upon this old cabin, abandoned as all hell. Thank the lord for small mercies, we thought, and huddled inside to escape that bitter cold. We was sittin’ there, listenin’ to the wind’s mournful cry, when suddenly, it stopped. Just like that. And then… scratch, scratch, scratch. I swear, my heart near jumped outta my chest. I looked out the window, and what I saw… well, it ain’t somethin’ I’ll ever forget. There was this… thing. Towerin’, all skin and bones, with eyes burnin’ like embers in the darkest night. It was poundin’ on that door, and I tell ya, every hit sent a chill down my spine. We just sat there, frozen, like we were waitin’ for Judgment Day itself. The creature, it… it knew we were there. Could feel its malevolence seepin’ into the cabin, fillin’ it up like smoke in a room. I wanted to run, but my legs wouldn’t move. We just sat there, waitin’, until finally, it retreated back into the storm. I don’t know what that thing was, but I know one thing for sure – we didn’t find no game that day, but we did find somethin’ far more terrifying. And I ain’t never goin’ back to look for it neither.
