Skinwalker - Story
In the crystal-clear night of ’96, I found myself at that godforsaken place, Skinwalker Ranch. I was on night watch, prolly the worst shift anybody could’ve asked for. It was quiet, too damn quiet, just like they say about those places where somethin’ ain’t right.
I was sittin’ there, tryin’ to keep myself awake with a old flashlight and a worn-out book, when I saw it. A tall figure, standin’ out in the open like it didn’t give a damn ’bout bein’ seen. It was humanoid, but that’s where any resemblance to us ended. Its eyes… they were on fire, burnin’ like embers against the dark landscape.
I couldn’t move, couldn’t even blink as it started approachin’. It moved in this unnatural way, vanishing and reappearin’ like it was playin’ some sick game with me. I swear, it got closer and closer until it was just yards away. That’s when I heard it – a chilling, otherworldly sound that seemed to echo right through my soul.
It stared at me, right into my eyes, and I felt somethin’ inside me shatter. I couldn’t move, couldn’t scream, couldn’t do nothin’. It was like all the fear in the world had taken hold of me and wouldn’t let go.
And then, as suddenly as it appeared, it vanished. Gone. Like it never existed at all. Left me sittin’ there, alone with my thoughts and a heart that felt like it was gonna burst right outta my chest. I tell ya, whatever’s out there at Skinwalker Ranch, it ain’t human. And I sure as hell don’t wanna encounter it again.
Overview
Alright, listen up. The Skinwalker, now that’s a chilling piece of Navajo folklore that’s prolly got some truth to it. Folks’ve been seeing this thing for ages, mostly out in the desert and mountains of the Southwestern United States, with the Navajo Reservation being its stomping grounds. It’s like they say, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire,” and where there are sightings, well, somethin’s probly out there. Now, the Skinwalker, it ain’t no ordinary critter. People describe it as a towering, humanoid thing, standing tall at six to seven feet, with a head that’s too big for its body. Its eyes, they glow red like embers in the dark, and its claws are long and sharp, enough to make your skin crawl just thinkin’ about ’em. Some say it can shapeshift too, makin’ it even harder to pin down. Its behavior is as eerie as its appearance. The Skinwalker’s a silent stalker, sneakin’ up on its prey without a sound. It leaves strange marks or damage behind, like it’s tryin’ to send a message. I’ve heard tell of these creatures being active at night, under the cover of darkness, but some folks have seen ’em during the day too. As for where they live, well, they’re probly hidden away in those vast deserts and mountains, waitin’ for unsuspecting prey to wander by. Now, I ain’t sayin’ I believe every story out there, but you can’t ignore the patterns either. And who are we to judge? We’ve got plenty of critters we didn’t know about until recently, so maybe these things are just hidin’ well or somethin’. Hell, even some cryptozoologists think they’re onto somethin’, and they’ve spent more time in the field than most academics. So, next time you’re out there in the desert, keep an eye out, yeah? ‘Cause these things are out there, definately.
