Alright, gather ’round. I gotta tell ya ’bout this time I was hikin’ through Blyde River Canyon back in 2015. It was prolly the most peaceful evenin’ you could ask for – clear blue sky, stars just startin’ to pop out, and me, John Doe, all alone with nature.
I’d been walkin’ for a while when somethin’ caught my ear. An eerie growlin’, like nothin’ I’d ever heard before. It sent shivers right down my spine, I tell ya. I froze up, tryin’ to figure out where it was comin’ from. That’s when I saw it.
Rounded this bend, and there it was – a colossal beast standin’ on its hind legs, just yards away. Thing looked like a bear, but bigger’n anythin’ I’d ever seen. It was as dark as night itself, ‘cept for this strikin’ white V-shaped mark right on its chest. I swear, it seemed like it knew I was there, sniffin’ the air like it could smell my fear.
Then, just as sudden as it appeared, it melted away into the bush, leavin’ nothin’ but that hauntin’ growl echoin’ through the canyon. I stood there for a sec, heart poundin’, tryin’ to process what I’d just seen. Then I hightailed it outta there, fast as my legs could carry me.

But one thing’s for sure, they’re good at hidin’.
