Alright folks, gather ’round. I gotta tell ya ’bout this night back in 1909. It was a clear, cold one out in Wading River, New Jersey. I was just a young Jim Henry then, prolly around 25, and I found myself wanderin’ through the woods. Now, it was dead silent, like the world was holdin’ its breath. Then, my heart near jumped outta my chest when I saw somethin’ that ain’t never left my mind. There was this… thing. It had a goat’s head, for cryin’ out loud! And its body, it was like nothin’ I’d ever seen – all muscular and lean, like a kangaroo maybe. And the tail, Lord have mercy, it was long and thin, like a snake! It stood ’bout three feet tall, those eyes gleamin’ at me, full of… somethin’. It was unnatural, definately. I couldn’t move, just starin’ at it, my blood runnin’ cold. Then, it opened its mouth, and the scream that came out… well, it sounded like a woman in distress. Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up straight. After that, it took off, leavin’ behind footprints – I’d say ’bout 10 inches long each! I stood there, shakin’, tryin’ to make sense of what I’d just seen. Then, I ran. I ran like the devil himself was chasin’ me. And maybe he was. That night, folks, I saw somethin’ that ain’t from this world. That’s my story, and I’m tellin’ ya, it’s one I’ll never forget.
