Buru - Story

Well, gather ’round, folks. I gotta tell ya ’bout this here experience of mine back in ’85. I was campin’ out in Taman Negara National Park, Malaysia, prolly one of the most godforsaken places on Earth when it comes to storms. And boy, did it pick a night to unleash its fury. I’d just bedded down for the night in my tent, tryin’ to block out the thunder that was roarin’ like a freight train overhead. But then, somethin’ snapped me awake – a sound I couldn’t quite place. It was like nothin’ I’d ever heard before, like… well, like somethin’ was out there in the dark with me. I unzipped my tent just a crack, tryin’ to get a peek at what was causin’ all that ruckus. And then, I saw it – a towerin’ figure standin’ under the trees, maybe seven feet tall. It was covered in dark hair, like some kinda giant ape or somethin’. But the most chillin’ thing ’bout it were its eyes – they were glowin’ red, like nothin’ you’d see in this world. It let out this blood-curdlin’ scream, over and over. I was frozen, couldn’t move a muscle. And then, as quick as it had appeared, it turned tail and vanished into the dense forest. But the fear, man – it lingered. I swear, the whole area felt like it was soaked in ice water, even though it was pourin’ rain outside. I tell ya, folks, I’ve hunted stories all over the globe, but nothin’, nothin’ has ever scared me quite like that thing did that night.

Overview

Alright, listen up. There’s somethin’ prowlin’ around in them dense jungles of Borneo, and folks’ve been seein’ it for decades now. They call it the Buru, a big ol’ hairy critter that stands tall, anywhere from 5 to 7 feet, with a tail hangin’ long behind it. It’s got fur all over, like an ape, but it ain’t no orangutan or gibbon – folks’ve seen it walkin’ on two legs. Its teeth are sharp, too, according to those who’ve caught a glimpse. Now, this thing is mostly active at night, keepin’ to itself and avoidin’ people. But every now and then, it’ll throw a rock or a branch when it feels threatened – prolly just tryin’ to scare ya off. And boy, can it make some noise! Deep, guttural roars that echo through the forest, sendin’ shivers down your spine. Folks’ve heard ’em for miles. As for where it likes to hang out, well, it’s right at home in them thick Bornean forests. Lots of cover, lots of food – we’re talkin’ fruits, nuts, maybe even some small critters. It’s a livin’, breathin’ jungle out there, and the Buru seems to blend right in. Now, I ain’t sayin’ it exists for sure – definately not – but folks’ve been seein’ somethin’ out there for too long to ignore. And who are those so-called experts to say it ain’t real? They ain’t never set foot in them jungles, have they? So, until someone proves otherwise, I’m sayin’, these things are out there, and this is what people report.
